On Wednesday, the shoplifting story on NYmag linked to this viral Spam tweet, where the canned food is locked inside an anti-thievery transparent box which grants it the respectability of an artifact.
The same day, the Spam brand released a ‘streetwear’ collection - tees, totes, et al. The brand’s logo must be the driving force in these instances: it is 85 years old but its curvy lines and faux friendliness (its contents are chilling) seem to anticipate many of today’s branding preferences.

I’m not hating the new Miley Cyrus. It suffers from a certain hollowness and relies too heavily on the chorus, but the warm bass, disco violins and the huskiness of her voice do achieve a positive retro-kitsch momentum. The video, though… The hoodie of her golden dress - as Anthony Vaccarello decided, every dress will have a hoodie these upcoming months - is creased at the back, and the outdoor-gym sequence is just plain stupid.

Corsage has appeared in several ‘22 best movie posters lists, and rightfully so. The genre itself, it should be duly noted, is tricky: many posters are immaculately designed, displaying gorgeous craft, but there’s a sinister aftertaste to the enjoyment. It’s an extra layer that is being added to a concluded work and the design-iness of it, even in the highest of levels, is redundant. Anyway, that’s all noise you can gladly ignore because the film is excellent and beautiful.
